Every truck that rolls into Redline Auto Creations tells a story. Sometimes it is a brand-new pickup fresh off the lot that the owner knows is not quite finished yet. Other times it is a daily driver that has been dreaming of a transformation for years. And every once in a while, someone walks through our doors on Fletcher Avenue with an idea so ambitious it makes us grin from ear to ear.
This year has been one for the books. We have built everything from murdered-out street trucks to trail-ready diesel rigs, and each project pushed our team to deliver something truly special. Custom truck builds in Tampa are not just about bolting on parts — they are about creating a vehicle that fits the owner's personality, handles Florida's terrain and weather, and turns heads at every gas station, boat ramp, and truck meet from Ybor City to Clearwater Beach.
Here are five of the most insane custom truck builds we completed this year at Redline Auto Creations. Each one is a testament to what happens when you pair a great vision with the right shop.
The owner of this 2023 Ford F-150 XLT had a clear directive from day one: make it look like it belongs in a movie. He wanted everything black — not just paint, but trim, wheels, lighting, badges, everything. On top of that, he wanted it sitting tall with an aggressive stance and a sound system that could rattle windows in the Channelside District.
We started with a Rough Country 6-inch suspension lift kit to give the truck the commanding presence it needed. For wheels, we went with Fuel Off-Road Blitz wheels in matte black, sized at 20x10 with a -18 offset to get that perfect poke without rubbing issues. Those got wrapped in 37-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires — aggressive enough to look serious but refined enough for daily highway driving on I-275.
The blacked-out treatment included full chrome delete using gloss black vinyl wrap on the grille, bumpers, door handles, mirror caps, and tailgate badging. We swapped the factory headlights for AlphaRex NOVA Series projector headlights with sequential turn signals, and the taillights got the same treatment with smoked LED replacements.
Inside, we installed a full JL Audio sound system featuring a pair of JL Audio 12W6v3 subwoofers in a custom-built enclosure, a JL Audio HD900/5 five-channel amplifier, and component speakers throughout the cabin. We also added Kicker door speakers in the rear for full surround coverage. The owner wanted bass he could feel in his chest, and we delivered.
We finished the exterior with a Bushwacker Pocket Style fender flares in flat black and added a low-profile Putco LED light bar behind the grille for a subtle but functional addition.
This F-150 is genuinely hard to look away from. At night, those sequential headlights draw attention from a block away, and the proportions with the 6-inch lift and 37s are perfectly dialed. The total build came in around $14,000 to $16,000 depending on how you account for some of the audio upgrades the owner added in a second phase. It is one of the cleanest blacked-out trucks we have ever built, and it has become a regular at Tampa truck meets.
This one came to us as a 2021 RAM 2500 Tradesman with the 6.7L Cummins diesel. The owner used it for his contracting business around Hillsborough County, but his weekends were spent out at Croom Motorcycle Area and occasional trips to the Ocala National Forest. He wanted a truck that could still tow his equipment trailer during the week but dominate unpaved roads on Saturday morning.
We installed a BDS 4-inch suspension lift designed specifically for the RAM 2500 platform. BDS was the right call here because their kits are engineered to maintain factory ride quality and towing capability — critical for a truck that still had to work for a living. We paired the lift with Fox 2.0 Performance Series reservoir shocks at all four corners for improved dampening on rough terrain without sacrificing highway comfort.
Wheels were Method Race Wheels 305 NV in matte black, 18x9, wrapped in 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain tires. The KO2 is a workhorse tire that handles mud, sand, and gravel without complaining on pavement — perfect for a dual-purpose build like this.
For protection, we added a Ranch Hand Legend Series front bumper with integrated winch mount. Behind that bumper sits a Warn Zeon 12-S winch with 12,000 pounds of pulling capacity and synthetic rope. Out back, we installed a Fab Fours rear bumper with swing-away tire carrier.
We also added N-Fab Podium steps for easier entry with the lift, a Bakflip MX4 tonneau cover to keep tools and gear secure, and a set of Rigid Industries SR-Series PRO 30-inch light bar mounted on the roof for trail visibility.
This RAM is the definition of a truck that works as hard as its owner. It still tows his 14,000-pound equipment trailer without breaking a sweat, but come the weekend, it is eating up trails that would leave stock trucks stuck in Florida sand. The build ran approximately $18,000 to $22,000 with the winch setup being the pricier add-on. The owner told us it is the best investment he has made in his business and his sanity.
Some builds are about utility. This one was about making a statement. The owner brought us a 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 RST and told us he wanted it to be the truck that stops traffic on Dale Mabry Highway. He had been following the wide-body truck trend and wanted to be the first in the Tampa Bay area to have one done right.
The foundation of this build was an Air Lift Performance 3P air suspension system. This gave us the ability to drop the truck to the ground for shows and cruising, then raise it to a functional ride height for daily driving. The 3P controller allows the owner to save custom presets and adjust from his phone — so he can slam it at a car show in Lakeland and lift it back up for the drive home.
The wide-body transformation was achieved with a Maxterra wide-body fender kit custom-fitted and finished in the factory Summit White paint. This added roughly 3 inches of width per side, which allowed us to run Fuel Forged FF19 wheels at a massive 24x14 with a deep lip, finished in polished aluminum with gloss black accents. Tires were 33-inch Fury Country Hunter MT for an aggressive look that still tucked under the fenders at ride height.
We custom-painted the entire truck with a three-stage pearl white finish with subtle metallic flake that catches Florida sunlight in a way that photos cannot do justice. All trim was color-matched — bumpers, grille surround, door handles, everything flows together seamlessly.
Interior upgrades included custom leather seat covers in white and black, a 10-inch Alpine Halo touchscreen head unit, and ambient LED lighting throughout the cabin in the owner's choice of color. We also installed a Borla S-Type cat-back exhaust for a deep, refined tone that matches the truck's personality.
This Silverado is a showstopper in the truest sense. It took Best Truck at two local shows this year and has amassed a serious following on social media. The air ride system means it is not a trailer queen either — the owner drives it daily and loves adjusting the ride height depending on where he is headed. This was one of our most involved builds of the year, coming in around $28,000 to $35,000 when you factor in the paint, air ride, wheels, and wide-body fabrication. Worth every penny.
Overland builds have exploded in popularity, and this 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road was a perfect canvas. The owner is an avid camper who frequently makes trips to Ocala, the Florida Keys, and longer hauls to the Smoky Mountains. She wanted a rig that could handle backcountry access roads, carry all her camping gear securely, and look great doing it — without sacrificing her daily commute through Tampa traffic on the Veterans Expressway.
The suspension received an Icon Vehicle Dynamics Stage 2 lift system, which includes extended-travel coilovers up front and rear expansion packs. Icon is our go-to for Tacoma overland builds because their valving is tuned for loaded travel — critical when you are carrying 500-plus pounds of gear on the roof and in the bed.
Speaking of the roof, we installed a Front Runner Slimline II roof rack — one of the most versatile platforms on the market. On top of that sits a Roam Vagabond rooftop tent in the standard size, providing sleeping space that sets up in under two minutes. The rack also holds a Front Runner water tank and a Maxtrax recovery board mount with a pair of Maxtrax in orange.
Up front, we installed a C4 Fabrication hybrid front bumper in raw steel with a textured black powder coat. It integrates a Baja Designs Squadron SAE fog lights and has provisions for a future winch. Out back, a C4 Fabrication high-clearance rear bumper with swing-out for the spare tire and a jerry can holder.
Lighting was a major part of this build. We added a Baja Designs 40-inch OnX6 light bar mounted above the windshield, Baja Designs XL80 driving lights on the bumper, and Rigid Industries rock lights underneath for campsite illumination. A Baja Designs S2 reverse light kit replaced the anemic factory reverse lights.
In the bed, we built a custom aluminum drawer system with a sliding fridge platform that holds a Dometic CFX3 55 fridge. Above the drawers, a Decked truck bed storage system keeps gear organized and secure.
This Tacoma is ready for anything the southeastern United States can throw at it. The owner took it on a two-week trip through the Blue Ridge Parkway and down through Georgia's backcountry within a month of completion, and it performed flawlessly. The build totaled approximately $20,000 to $25,000, with the rooftop tent and fridge setup accounting for a significant portion. It is one of the most thoughtfully planned builds we have done, and every single component was chosen for a reason.
We know, we know — a Jeep is not technically a truck. But when a customer rolls in with a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 and says he wants to run 40-inch tires and still be able to daily-drive it around South Tampa, you do not turn that project away. This owner is a serious off-roader who makes regular trips to Gulches Off-Road Park in South Carolina and wanted a rig that could handle the most technical trails on the East Coast.
Running 40-inch tires on a Wrangler requires more than just a lift. We installed a Metalcloak 3.5-inch Game Changer suspension system with their Duroflex joints and RockSport shocks. Metalcloak's geometry correction is critical at this tire size — without proper caster and pinion angle adjustments, the Jeep would handle like a shopping cart on the highway.
The axles received a complete regear to 5.13 ratio front and rear. With the 392 V8 making 470 horsepower and the factory 4.10 gears, going to 40s would have turned the engine into a laboring mess. The 5.13s bring the RPMs back to where they should be for highway cruising and restore the low-range crawl ratio for technical terrain.
Wheels are Method Race Wheels 105 beadlocks in 17x9, paired with 40-inch Nitto Trail Grappler tires. The beadlock wheels are essential for airing down to single-digit PSI on the rocks without risking a tire popping off the bead.
For armor, we went comprehensive: Metalcloak rocker rails, Artec Industries front and rear diff guards, EVO Manufacturing control arm skids, and a Warn Elite Series front bumper with a Warn VR EVO 12-S winch. Out back, we installed a Poison Spyder rear bumper with tire carrier rated for the 40-inch spare.
We also added a Teraflex HD hinged tire carrier reinforcement to handle the weight of the 40-inch spare without stressing the tailgate, and installed Dynatrac ProSteer ball joints up front because the factory joints are not rated for this kind of tire weight.
This Wrangler 392 on 40s is an absolute animal. The regear was the key to the whole build — it drives on the highway like a stock Jeep despite wearing tires that belong on a rock buggy. On the trail, the combination of the 392 V8, 5.13 gears, and 40-inch tires gives it a crawl ratio that makes technical obstacles feel casual. The total investment came in around $22,000 to $28,000, with the regear, beadlock wheels, and tires being the biggest line items. It is one of the most capable rigs in the Tampa Bay Jeep community, hands down.
